A 17 year-old boy presented after a wooden board fell on his head. He had brief loss of consciousness and vomited once. Upon arrival in the emergency department, he complains only of a moderate headache. He has no other injuries.
No significant past medical history.
None.
Not contributory.
Lives 20 minutes away with his parents and 1 sibling.
There is a minimally displaced (less than skull thickness) left parietal bone fracture extending to the left coronal suture. There is an 8 mm left frontoparietal hemorrhage consistent with an epidural hematoma. There are 2 mm of left to right midline shift. There are no other pathologic findings.
